CIRCLE study by the sea

The place where children and young people grow up in England can make a difference to their health and care. CIRCLE Study by the Sea is a two and a half year research project to understand more about:

  • what community health and social care looks and feels like for children, young people and their families in seaside towns in England

  • what helps and protects children and young people’s health and care where they live

  • how local services can work together to support children and young people’s health and care in seaside towns

  • what difference this can make to children, young people and their families’ lives

Our research team is made up of universities, community health providers and local councils and we are supported by groups of local youth and parent/carer advisors and organisations in four seaside towns. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has provided funding for this work.
